Lunch was okay although the medium rare steak was very rare - my husband ate mine!
It was noisy, cold, pokey and damp. We didn't stay for breakfast as we were upset with the noise the night before from a wedding party directly outside our rooms that didn't finish till 1am - then the fire alarm was set off by some drunk girls! my 76 year old Mum and 14 year old daughter were very frightened. All in all a pretty awful nights (or lack of it) sleep!
A very good location, excellent food and the room was spotlessly clean and tidy. I would highly recommend this hotel.
The close proximity of the A1 was nowhere near as intrusive as we suspected it might be. Pleasantly surprised. Enjoyed our stay.
All members of staff were very welcoming and helpful. Felt very well looked after.
It was a friendly and nice atmosphere...good food and good service.
If anything it was a little worn in parts... But clean. My concern being so close to the busy a1 did not materialise as the double glazing worked very well.
We only stayed for one night and had breakfast there but were impressed by the helpfulness of the staff we would have liked to have had a meal there when we saw the menu but it was not possible.
A minor thing which no-one can alter-the approach to the hotel involved crossing the busy A1
The room we had was in need of a revamp & updating we also had to make our own bed & change our towels
The staff could not do enough for us! They were so kind and considerate, they even transported us to another nearby hotel where our friends were been married so that we did not have to pay the taxi rate! It is a simple no frills hotel and I would recommend it to anyone who wishes for a country retreat.
There is literally nothing around and taxis are expensive due to this, pick and chose where and how you will get there!
The Sibson was very welcoming, with a cosy ,homely feel. The room was clean, well presented and we like the fact that they were part of the old buildings. The food was excellent ,as was the service. We had to make an early start and Dave cooked our breakfasts early which we really appreciated. It is touches like this that will ensure our return.See you in October .
Friendly Staff Good Food Nice Comfy Rooms
Staff were friendly
Had booked a premier room that stated on the website it had a seating area, a desk, an iron, an ironing board in the room amongst other things. Disappointed when I got to the room and realised that although there was a desk and chair, there was no cosy seating area which was the main reason for booking this type of room and was shown in the photos of the room type - turns out there weren't any of this type of room available. Also, the individual rooms do not have irons and ironing boards, you have to ask to borrow the general one from reception.
We liked the comfort, our meals & lack of formality
noise from the road although wewere at rear of hotel. would not occupy a frontroom
Exellent food, welcoming atmosphere, room was very warm, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Lovely hosts.
Great four poster bed and large room. Perfect position to stop without having to leave the A1 made it very convenient. Nice meal and very friendly staff.
Pleasant and friendly staff. Very good value for an overnight stay, only a couple of pounds more than the local Days Inn or Premier Inn. That was, until I doubled the room bill with an excellent 3-course meal (which included Lemon Sole, house wine, coffee and three Remy Martins, so still very good value). Full English Breakfast included as well, which I don't think it is at the big chains. Conveniently located on the A1 Northbound.
I would have preferred a full-length bath, rather than a shower over a 3/4 length bath, but for the price one can't complain. Probably only an issue with some rooms.
